Despite the divergent views of many fans and experts, Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface has boldly declared Neymar Jr. to be the greatest football player of all time (GOAT).
Even though Boniface respects the legendary careers of players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he is adamant about his preference for Neymar since he feels he is better than the others.
In a recent interview, Boniface also discussed how he finds motivation in football, mentioning four standout players whose matches he frequently watches before his own games. Neymar, former Manchester City attacker Robinho, former Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa, and former Arsenal great Santi Cazorla all on the list.
Boniface went into detail about his choices, emphasizing how important a striker is in setting up chances from midfield—a trait he values in all of these greats. In addition, he thanked his Super Eagles colleague Victor Osimhen for teaching him to be a fighter. He especially praised Osimhen’s strength and perseverance against any defense.
Boniface has faced difficulties in the past year, missing numerous important games for Bayer Leverkusen due to injury concerns during the season. He did, however, make his comeback to action last month when he came on as a substitute in an exciting 2-2 tie with RB Leipzig.
Boniface was instrumental in the ensuing league game against Hoffenheim, adding to the tally with a goal during his 45-minute cameo. His influence was further highlighted in a DFB-Pokal match against FC Köln, where he assisted his club in pulling off an incredible comeback after falling down 2-0.
