Jurrien Timber, hailing from Ajax, has officially joined Arsenal this transfer window

According to Ajax, the 22-year-old Jurrien Timber has been acquired by Arsenal for a transfer fee of 40 million euros which has the potential to reach 45 million euros

(Football News) Arsenal has bolstered its defensive options in preparation for another shot at the Premier League title and a return to the Champions League by securing the signing of Netherlands defender Jurriën Timber from Ajax. The 22-year-old Timber completed the move for a reported fee of 40 million euros (USD 45 million), with the potential to increase to 45 million euros (USD 50.5 million) through add-ons, according to Ajax.

Known for his ball-playing abilities, Timber showcased his talent on the international stage, representing the Netherlands in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and being part of the squad for the 2021 European Championship. His versatility as a central defender or right-back provides Arsenal with valuable options. Last season, Arsenal’s title hopes were dashed due to defensive setbacks, making the acquisition of Timber a crucial addition to their squad.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his enthusiasm for the arrival of Jurrien Timber, stating, “We are filled with excitement that Jurrien has become a part of our team.”

“We are thrilled to have Jurrien on board as he brings exceptional versatility and enhances the quality of our squad,” commented Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. “Despite his young age, Jurrien has already accomplished a great deal. He has participated in major international tournaments and has been part of Ajax’s victorious campaigns, securing league titles in 2021 and 2022 since his arrival at the club’s academy in 2014.”

Furthermore, Arsenal is on the verge of announcing the imminent signing of England midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham. The club has already made a significant acquisition this off-season by bringing in Germany forward Kai Havertz from Chelsea in a reported deal worth 65 million pounds (USD 82 million).
