Table toppers Real Madrid host Sevilla; Atletico Madrid and Barcelona travel away to try and recover from UCL disappointment

(Football news) Real Madrid climbed to the top of the La Liga table after the last match week. Los Blancos are currently flying in the league and in Europe. Barcelona and Atletico haven't put in a real challenge so far this season with Real Sociedad and Sevilla the closest teams to Real Madrid.

Barcelona needed 3 points against Benfica in the UCL midweek but could only manage a draw. Their qualification for the knockouts is very complicated but it could've been worse as Benfica were by far the better team. Barcelona now travel to Villarreal to try and get some momentum going. Xavi has had a very difficult start to his managerial career at the Camp Nou. Sergi Roberto, Pedri, Ansu Fati, Martin Braithwaite and Sergio Aguero are still far from fit. Villarreal also had a disappointing UCL game against Manchester United as they lost 2-0 at home. Gerard Moreno is the only player who is not available for Unai Emery’s side.

Atletico Madrid will travel away to Cadiz. Diego Simeone's men also have a complicated UCL qualification scenario after their loss against AC Milan midweek. Joao Felix and Kieran Trippier are still out due to their injuries. Atletico Madrid are struggling after winning only 2 out of their last 8 matches. Simeone has yet to find the right combination for his side especially in the attack where he has tried different combinations. Cadiz will be looking to get something from this game as a loss could push them into the relegation zone.

Real Madrid defeated Sheriff in the UCL midweek to book their place in the knockouts. Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping to replicate this weekend against Sevilla. A win for Sevilla would take them above Real Madrid on the points table. Real Madrid are still without Gareth Bale, Dani Ceballos and Fede Valverde while there are doubts over the availability of Eden Hazard and David Alaba. Sevilla will be missing three key players in Diego Carlos, Jesus Navas and Youssef En-Nesyri.
