Table toppers Real Madrid host injury prone Atletico Madrid in in the coveted Madrid derby; bruised Barcelona travel to Osasuna

(Football news) After just 16 games this season, Real Madrid look to be running away with the title already. Los Blancos are 8 points clear at the top of the table and are looking unstoppable. Atletico Madrid are 4th on the table while Barcelona are 7th.

Barcelona are probably at the lowest point in their club's history. The Blaugrana lost their last league game against Real Betis at the Camp Nou. They needed a win at Bayern Munich to make it to the UCL knockouts but lost 3-0 and now find themselves in the Europa League for the first team since it was the UEFA Cup in 2003/04.

They now travel to Osasuna to make small inroads. At this point no one expects Barcelona to win against the big teams but they need to start by taking points from mid and bottom placed teams. To make matters worse Xavi finds himself in the middle of an injury crisis as he still doesn't have the services of Martin Braithwaite, Ansu Fati, Pedri, Sergi Roberto and Sergio Aguero, while Jordi Alba and Memphis Depay join the medical room after picking up injuries in Bavaria. Barcelona need 3 points but Osasuna will not have a better opportunity to beat the Catalan side and go above them on the points table.

The big grudge match is the Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabeu. After losing their last league game against Mallorca, Atletico Madrid won a do or die game against Porto to qualify for the UCL Knockouts. Atletico Madrid will be missing Jose Giménez, Stefan Savić, Kieran Trippier and Sime Vrsaljko. Luis Suarez who injured himself in the game against Porto is recovering faster than expected and could be available for selection.

Real Madrid on the other hand have defeated title contenders Sevilla and Real Sociedad along with Athletic Club in their last 3 games. They also won against Italian champions Inter Milan to top their UCL group. Karim Benzema who was subbed off against La Real is back in training but still remains doubtful. Bale has been training with the team for a while and should return to the bench while Dani Ceballos remains on the sidelines. The rest of the Madrid squad is fit and ready for the game as of now.
