Hoops Heat Up in Málaga: Supercopa 2025 Tips Off This September

Mark your calendars, basketball fans!  On September 27 and 28, the sun-drenched city of Malaga will host the Supercopa Malaga 2025.  With pride, Unicaja will host this thrilling event while reveling in their recent victory.

Unicaja made history last year as they defeated the formidable Real Madrid 90-80 in the exciting final in Murcia.  They are now preparing to defend their title at the Jose Maria Martin Carpena Sports Palace, their home field.  The semifinals promise a thrilling final match on Sunday, September 28, after a Saturday spectacular on September 27 (though the precise dates are still unknown).  The league has confirmed that this finale would be the first trophy match of the 2025–2026 season.

As of right now, Unicaja has the only guaranteed spot because they are the reigning winners of both the Supercopa Endesa and the coveted Copa del Rey, when they defeated Real Madrid 93-79 in the colorful Gran Canaria stadium.  Their position is further cemented by hosting duties.  The Liga Endesa standings will be earned by the final three contenders.

For the league’s finalists and the third-place squad, who will secure the remaining spots, it’s a sprint to the top.  The best Liga Endesa team from the regular season that doesn’t advance past the semifinals will take third place.  The fourth-ranked team will enter the race if Unicaja manages to place among the top three.

The league pushed the Supercopa up by a few days in a cunning scheduling move.  As a prize for winning the Basketball Champions League (BCL), Unicaja is now able to travel to Singapore for the Intercontinental Cup in mid-September.  Now let’s start the games!
