Suns thrash Warriors despite Steph’s 50 points while Bucks win

(Basketball news) The Phoenix Suns thrashed the Golden State Warriors despite Steph Curry dropping 50 points as they beat them 130-119. For the Suns, Cameron Payne had a career-high 29 points while Devin Booker added 27 points as Mikal Bridges had 23 points and a career high nine assists and Torrey Craig added 13 points and 10 rebounds. For the Warriors, Steph Curry led the scoring with 50 points as the eight-time All-Star made 17 of 28 shots, going 7 of 11 from 3-point range while Klay Thompson finished with 19 points but shot just 6 of 17. With this result the defending NBA champs fell to 6-9 for the season, including 0-8 on the road. On the other hand the Suns jumped to 2nd in the Western Conference standings with a 9-5 record.

''It's important to have a team,'' Booker said about balanced production. ''That gives you longevity and will get us through a season.''

''Losing becomes a habit if you don't fix it,'' Curry said. ''We avoided that for a very long time. We are very aware of who we are and our potential. The losing does get old really quick.''

''Cam can score the ball and he had seven assists to go with it,'' Williams said. ''But in closing moments, he has to be better. We don't need all that silliness at the end of games.''

The Milwaukee Bucks got back to winning ways after they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 113-98. For the Bucks, Lopez shot 7 for 9 from 3-point range and scored 29 points while Antetokounmpo had 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for the Bucks as Jordan Nwora had a season-high 21 points to help the Bucks outscore the Cavaliers 45-20 in bench points. Bobby Portis had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Jevon Carter added 11 points and eight assists. For the Cavs, Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland each had 23 points and Evan Mobley added 20 points. With this result the Bucks moved to 2nd in the Eastern Conference Standings with a record of 11-3.

''Obviously Giannis is so good, he's going to draw so much attention,'' Lopez said. ''The rest of us just have to be ready when we're open. We're going to be open a lot because they load up so much, every team loads up so much. You've just got to be ready to be open, catch it and shoot it.''

''Honestly, we've got kind of a fat-cat mentality,'' Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. ''We went out and won eight games in a row,. Everyone was giving us love and praising us and we got really comfortable.''

''We're not playing winning basketball right now,'' Bickerstaff said. ''It's that simple. We have a formula in place that allows us or will allow us to be successful. Holding each other to that (standard) is what we have to do. Right now we are not.''
