The state’s senior women’s football squad meets with Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang, who wishes them luck in the national tournament. Beginning on December 11, the team will compete in Chhattisgarh.
On December 8, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with the state’s senior women’s football squad and wished them well as they get ready to play in the 29th Senior Women’s National Football Championship final round for the Raj Mata Juabai Trophy 2024–25.
Head coach Puspa Gurung and other officials will lead the team, which will represent Sikkim in the famous competition that begins on December 11 in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
The chief minister of Sikkim spoke at the event and said he was proud of the team’s accomplishments and commitment to the game.
Meeting and interacting with the team was enjoyable. I urge them to keep being excellent examples of commitment and sportsmanship. They have my best wishes for winning the championship,” he remarked.
Women’s football in India faces challenges such as limited media coverage, societal barriers, and a lack of infrastructure. However, there has been an increasing push for better facilities, greater investment, and more visibility.
