Real Madrid and Barcelona travel away; Atlético Madrid host Sevilla

(Football news) The two remaining fixtures of La Liga are likely to have no effect in the top half of the table. The teams however will have their own objectives they would want to achieve with the remaining games. Real Madrid will be preparing for the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool with these games. Barcelona, Sevilla and Atlético Madrid will want to make use of these games to figure certain things out for next season.

Atletico Madrid will play Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano in what will be a virtual decider for the 3rd spot as Sevilla are currently 1 point behind Atletico. Both teams are not in the best of forms but have still secured their place in the top 4. Sevilla have won 1, lost 1 and drawn 3 of their last 5 games while Atleti have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. It wasn't that long ago when Sevilla were Real Madrid's biggest title contenders but their form has consistently dipped. Sevilla will be without Karim Rekik, Fernando and Suso who are yet to recover from their injuries. Joao Felix and Thomas Lemar are still on the sidelines and are likely to miss the final game of the season as well.

Real Madrid travel away to face relegation threatened Cadiz. Los Blancos are fresh from an emphatic 6-0 win over Levante which resulted in the latter being relegated. Cadiz are currently 17th on the table and 2 points ahead of Mallorca and a loss against could push them into the relegation zone. The game could see the return of Eden Hazard for the first time since his surgery. Gareth Bale, Dani Carvajal, Dani Ceballos, Isco, Gareth Bale and Marcelo are likely to be back. Carlo Ancelotti has given Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr and Thibaut Courtois a rest and the trio will not take part against Cadiz. David Alaba still remains unavailable while Luka Jovic didn't train with the team for unknown reasons. Carlo Ancelotti and his team are treating this like a mini pre-season just like predicted.

Barcelona will travel away to face 15th place Getafe. Xavi has a few things left to figure out before next season. Players like Oscar Mingueza, Riqui Puig, Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti, Sergino Dest and Martin Braithwaite need to be tested more to determine their future. Frenkie De Jong is likely to start the match amidst all the Manchester United rumours. The partnership between Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang worked really well in the last outing against Villarreal and the pair are expected to start together again. Barcelona cannot take the remaining games too lightly as they must finish 2nd in order to qualify for the Spanish Super Cup.
