Di Marzio also states that Giroud has verbally agreed to sign a one-year contract with Milan which means they are tying him to the club until June 2024, in a contract worth €3.8m net plus add-ons. The Frenchman is expected to put pen to paper on his new deal before their all important first leg Champions League tie with Napoli, on April 12.
Giroud continues to be the number one striker for Stefano Pioli despite the signing of Divock Origi and the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Giroud’s renewal is a formality and in the next 10-15 days we can expect an announcement from the club. The Rossoneri do not want any outside noise to disturb the team harmony because their focus will have to be solely on the pitch. For AC Milan this is a season-defining month as they are in the top four battle spot while they also face Napoli in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
