Neymar in Talks to Leave Al-Hilal

Negotiations to end Neymar’s contract before it expires in June 2025 are presently underway between the Brazilian superstar and Al-Hilal. However, a source from the Saudi club claims that the possible deal is being complicated by financial disparities.

According to Brazilian sources, Santos, the team where Neymar started his career and left his mark, is considering a potential comeback for the superstar. Al-Hilal, meanwhile, seems to favor a long-term move.

Neymar left Paris Saint-Germain to join Al-Hilal in August 2023, however he has only made seven appearances for the team, tallying three assists and one goal. A serious knee injury—a ruptured ACL—suffered in October 2023 during an international match against Uruguay ruined his rookie season.

Following his recovery and return to the Asian Champions League, Neymar was sidelined for many weeks in November 2024 due to another injury, this time to his thigh.

Although Neymar has only started training again, head coach Jorge Jesus has voiced doubts about his level of fitness. “It is quite challenging for a player to return to their peak form following a 15-month injury layoff. In an interview with a Brazilian media outlet, Neymar said, “He is still very good, but he is not physically ready for the competition yet.”

In spite of Neymar’s absence, Al-Hilal won the domestic treble the previous season and is presently riding high, setting a new league record with 34 straight wins.

The possibility of Neymar leaving could allow Al-Hilal to acquire another international superstar.
