(Cricket news) On Wednesday, September 27, the Nepal national cricket team humiliated Mongolia in the first match of the men’s competition at the Asian Games 2023. The Rhinos, who batted first in the Group A encounter at Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China, went berserk against a side made up entirely of T20I debutants.

They rode record-breaking innings from Kushal Malla (137 not out off 50 balls) and Dipendra Singh Airee (52 off 10 not out) to register the first-ever 300-plus score in T20I history of 314/3 in 20 overs.

They then dismissed Mongolia for 41 runs in 13.1 overs, registering a 273-run victory – another world record. Only one Mongolian batter achieved double figures, Davaasuren Jamyansuren’s 10 in 23. There were five ducks in the inning. The Maldives are also part of the three-team group. On October 1, Nepal will play the Maldives.

T20I Records Broken:

Kushal Malla, a 19-year-old left-handed hitter, hit the fastest T20I century in 34 balls, breaking David Miller and Rohit Sharma’s previous joint mark (35 balls). Batting at No. 3, Malla hammered 12 sixes and eight fours to remain unbeaten on 137 and lead Nepal to their highest-ever T20I total of 314 for 3 against Mongolia, who chose to field.

Dipendra Singh Airee, their No. 5 batter, also shattered the record books, smashing a nine-ball fifty that broke Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record. Yuvraj needed 12 balls to get his fifty in the World T20 match against England on September 19, 2007.
