(Basketball news) The Golden State Warriors lost to the spirited Indiana Pacers 121-117 in overtime. For the Pacers, Chris Duarte top scored with 27 points, Justin Holiday scored 16 points as seven Pacers players scored in double digits. For the Warriors, Curry scored 39 but none in overtime, missing a 3 from the top of the arc with 16.5 seconds left as Klay Thompson struggled with only 13 points as he missed all seven of his 3-point tries and Golden State's players aside from Curry were 0 for 14 from deep until Damion Lee connected with 40 seconds left in the third. With this result the Pacers improved their record to 17-29 as the Warriors stayed in second in the Western Conference standings with a record of 32-13.
“We were definitely sped up a little bit, 9 for 42 from 3, but it wasn't a great game in terms of our execution to get those 42 3-point shots,'' coach Steve Kerr said. ''I don't think we earned the right to make a lot more than that. It just felt like we were scattered out there and in a rush for sure.''
:As far as the 3-point shot that tied it, I'm normally a fouler and I take the hit on that one, too. This was my night to stink it up,'' Kerr said.
''Golden State is a great, great team. They got two of the best players – two of the best shooters that you've ever seen in this game – so I think us coming out with the win, it's a huge, huge win for us,'' Duarte said.
''Everyone's tired from all the travel over the last month or so, just felt like a good day to unwind and do something fun, '' Kerr said. ''… Klay was good. I know you're going to be shocked that Steph and Klay were both excellent.''
The Phoenix Suns have continued their magnificent run with their 9th straight victory over the Dallas Mavericks 109-101. For the Suns, Devin Booker scored 28 points, Chris Paul had 20 points and 11 assists with no turnovers as they won despite shooting a season-worst 22.2% on 3-pointers (8 for 36), including missing 17 straight in the first half as five Suns players were in double digits. For the Mavericks, Doncic had 24 points through three quarters – giving him 20 or more points in nine straight games, Jalen Bruson had 19 points and Kristaps Porzingis had 18 points. With this result the Suns improved their record to 35-9 and sit comfortably on top of the Western Conference standings.
''Chris knows when to go,'' Dallas coach Jason Kidd said. ''He showed that again in the fourth quarter.''
''That's a team that's been running through the league here of late,'' Suns coach Monty Williams. ''To beat them on their home floor like that is huge.'
''My neck's not an excuse,'' said Doncic, who had eight turnovers and said he might have lost some steam in the fourth quarter. ''But man, they're the best record in the league. We were right there.''
''It's hard to trust the players because no player in the history of the league has ever committed a foul,'' Williams said
