(Football news) Napoli got a 3-0 win at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium against Eintracht Frankfurt to seal their spot in the UCL quarter finals for the first time in their history. Napoli are possibly the most in-form team in Europe and they have to be in the conversation for the favorites to win the Champions League this season. Hirving Lozano could only make the bench after recovering from an injury as Matteo Politano started up front with Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Alex Meret, as expected returned between the sticks having missed the last game due to a knock.

Napoli had a 2 goal lead coming into this game but they had to be careful which they were. The first was pretty even in terms of possession but the hosts were looking the most likely to score. That is exactly what happened as Matteo Politano assisted Victor Osimhen in the 47th minute. The game was done and dusted in the 2nd half where Osimhen added a 2nd goal. Giovanni Di Lorenzo whipped in a low cross into the box which was converted by the striker. Piotr Zielinski won and scored a penalty to pile on the pain for Eintracht Frankfurt. Osimhen is in incredible form as he now has 23 goals in only 28 games this season. 

Napoli are looking very strong this season and no team would want to face them in the competition as the draw will take place on Friday. Napoli have one hand on the Serie A trophy already and now a UCL quarter final is a massive achievement for them. Napoli became the 3rd Italian team after AC Milan and Inter Milan to make it to the last 8 this season. It is for the first time in 17 seasons that 3 Italian teams have made it to the UCL quarter finals which is an incredible sign for the Serie A. Napoli’s focus will now shift on the away game against Torino after which there will be the international break.
