Hamilton confident Mercedes will bounce back after disappointing season

(Motorsport) Seven time World Champion Lewis Hamilton has expressed his belief that Mercedes will bounce back from their 2022 struggles and rise back to the top. With the Singapore Grand Prix on the horizon, Mercedes are hoping to secure their first win of the season under the floodlights of the Marina Bay Circuit. Hamilton has won a race in all 15 Formula 1 seasons that he has competed in and has claimed that he “doesn’t look at [2022] as a dry spell".

Speaking at a Petronas event, Hamilton said “I look at it as a bit of adversity and I think that's where you can really gain strength. I think we've gained a lot of strength in depth. When you win all the time it's a wonderful thing but you don't gain a lot when you win. There are six races [left] so there's six opportunities and we will try to get a win, but if we do not do well, I do not think it is the end of the world. We will get back to the top.

“Our goal is to try and get second in the teams because that does make a huge impact for everybody back at the factory and so these next six races are just about maximum attack, nothing to lose and going to give it hell. I would say Singapore should be a good track for us because it's a high downforce circuit. However, it is bumpy."

Despite the fact that Mercedes hasn’t won a race this season, their reliability and relatively consistent podium finishes has meant that the Silver Arrows have the opportunity to overtake Ferrari in the Constructors Standings. As things stand, Mercedes are 35 points behind Ferrari in the standings and will aim for a strong finish while hoping Ferrari continue to make strategy blunders in the remaining six races.
