(Athletics news) Olympic 2021 Live Update: India’s track and field campaign kicked off in Tokyo today with Sable beginning the heat with his personal best of 8:20.20 to break the national record. Sable then went on to clock 8:18.12 to break his own national record at the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase but finished in the 7th position which was not good enough to qualify.

The top 3 from Heat 2 comprising A. Kibiwot of Kenya with a timing of 8:12.25, G. Wale of Ethiopia with a timing of 8:12.55 and A. Abdelwahed of Italy with a timing of 8.12.71 qualified for the next round.
