The 1st leg ended in a 1-1 draw as Manchester City will be desperate to play another UCL quarter final
Manchester City

(Football news) The 1st leg of Manchester City Vs RB Leipzig was a hard fought 1-1 draw. Now Manchester City will be looking for an improved performance at the Etihad Stadium. City have won their 4 games since the first leg and they will come into this game high on confidence. Leipzig on the other hand beat Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach but also lost against Borussia Dortmund. The German club will be positive about their chances of qualification especially after the 1st leg performance. City do have the tendency to get it completely wrong in UCL knockouts which is why Leipzig cannot be counted out just yet.

Pep Guardiola will have his full squad available but Phil Foden is a doubt as he is nursing a foot injury. Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker were benched on the weekend’s win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and the pair will most likely come back into the line-up. Riyad Mahrez who has played 0 minutes in the last two games could also come back into the starting XI.

Pep Guardiola has switched between a 3 at the back system and a standard 4 at the back system. It will be interesting to see what system he goes for in this game. This is the kind of game that Manchester City have brought Erling Haaland for and he will be very keen to prove his worth.

RB Leipzig will be without their star player Christopher Nkunku who is struggling with a hamstring issue. Long term absentees Xaver Schlager, Peter Gulacsi and Abdou Diallo are still on the sidelines. It goes without saying that RB Leipzig will have to play the best game of their season to beat this Manchester City side in their backyard. Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner will be their most important player. He will be looking to use his pace on counter attack whenever possible. Leipzig’s goal will be under constant threat which is where Jasko Gvardiol will be tested.
