Liverpool play away at Benfica in the UCL quarter finals

(Football news) After their 2-0 win against Watford in the Premier League, Liverpool will travel to Portugal to take on Benfica in the UCL quarter finals 1st leg. The Merseyside club won all 6 group stage games and topped their group. They marginally edged Inter Milan 2-1 in the Round of 16. After winning the Carabao cup, Liverpool still have a good chance of winning the FA Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League to complete the legendary quadruple.

Benfica finished 2nd in their group ahead of FC Barcelona before defeating Ajax in the Round of 16. The Portuguese side are not having the best of seasons domestically but in Europe they are enjoying one of their best campaigns ever. Getting the better of Liverpool is by no means an easy task. Benfica definitely need a home win because Anfield is definitely a place they wouldn't want to go without a lead. Striker Darwin Nunez will have to be on top of his game for Benfica to have any chance in the game

Liverpool have a fully fit squad available which gives Jurgen Klopp a very welcome headache of team selection. His biggest call will be the striker as he will have to choose between Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz to partner Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. Trent Alexander-Arnold is available again at the right time but he may not be fit enough to start after not playing against Watford. Benfica will be without winger Rodrigo Pinho and centre back Lucas Verissimo. Liverpool have a very difficult period coming up with fixtures coming in hard and fast while Benfica only have the UCL to focus on. The match will be fast paced as Liverpool's press will be anything but timid. Benfica may be forced to rely on long balls to beat the gegenpress.
