(Football news) Leicester City are on the verge of signing Victor Kristiansen as they are set to pay the reigning Danish champions an initial €15 million before the fee rising to €20m with possible future add-ons. The move will make him Leicester’s first major signing of the January window, and only the second signing since Jannik Vestergaard arrived in the summer of 2021. Kristiansen will reportedly have his medical at Leicester tomorrow ahead of his move.
The 20 year-old left-back has experience of playing in the Champions League and Europa Conference League, and has been a regular in the Danish Superliga. He gave former Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez a very difficult time in the Champions League when they faced Man City in the group stage, keeping the Algerian quiet in the match. Leicester will be hoping he is the first of many signings this month as the club are still chasing Fiorentina winger and World Cup winner Nico Gonzalez as manager Brendan Rodgers would ideally like to add another centre-back to his squad with Soyuncu close to joining Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, the likes of Caglar Soyuncu, Ayoze Perez, Jannik Vestergaard and Dennis Praet can leave this month. Newcastle are very keen on Youri Tielemans and James Maddison, but summer moves look more likely for the midfield duo. While this season Leicester have had Thomas at the left back position as he is certainly naturally talented, it is worth saying at 21 years of age, his skillset is still rather raw, despite all of his potential.
Signing Victor Kristiansen for a £17.5 million fee seems like a good signing from Leicester City. The youngster’s finest qualities are his “pace, power, dynamism, dribbling, ball control, tackling, crossing. His skillset is similar to Liverpool star, Kostas Tsimikas, who Jurgen Klopp said has a ‘lot of quality’ and It seems as if the Foxes are signing a potential gem in this wonderkid.
It comes after Copenhagen released a statement earlier today, in which they said “there is no certainty that an agreement will be reached.” Things appear to have moved quickly, with the two clubs now having agreed a price for the transfer.
