Salzburg were very dangerous but chances weren’t there yet, but 7:1 shots on goal and 54 percent possession of the ball clearly spoke for Salzburg in the first 20 minutes.

The Austrian champions defended very disciplined at the back which kept the Argentine world champion Dybala away from their own goal. After about 20 minutes, the game changed a bit as Salzburg didn’t do so well up front, on the other hand the Romans showed that they can be dangerous. Abraham missed the first good chance with a header in the 24th minute. Abraham got the better of Pavlovic and pulled away, but keeper Köhn made a brilliant save.

In the second half, Salzburg kept the game open and the Roma offensive away from their own goal. However, the home side could only set a few attacks forward, after an hour, Adamu replaced Fernando, who was unable to convert his speed into a goal threat and the substitute almost stabbed the ball in the goal with his first touch of the ball. However, his header was too unplaced and would have been just offside in the 61st minute.

In midfield, more and more mistakes crept in on both sides, the Italians were closer to victory, with Cristante hitting the outside of the post with his header on the 72 minute mark. Then Belotti took a shot from close range and Köhn deflected the ball to the post and saved his team. Finally Capaldo got the winner when he brilliantly headed in Pavlovic’s cross and nodded off the Austrian Champions to a scrappy victory.
