Lakers win their 3rd straight game while Warriors win their 1st away game

(Basketball news) The Los Angeles Lakers won their 3rd straight game as they beat San Antonio 123-92. For the Lakers, Anthony Davis had 30 points and 18 rebounds as Austin Reaves also scored 17 of his season-high 21 points in the first half while Lonnie Walker scored 14 points against his former team. For the Spurs, Devin Vassell scored 17 points for them as Greg Popvich’s side lost five straight games while Gorgui Dieng added seven points and seven rebounds while starting in place of injured Jakob Poeltl. With this result the Lakers improved their record to 5-10 as they are slowly but steadily improving their form in the league after a dismal start to the season.

''Everybody's confidence is very high, while not getting too high,'' Davis said. ''Feels good to get three in a row. Now we've just got to carry it over to the road. Got to put some more wins together.''

''When something like that happens, you're concerned,'' Brown said. ''But the doctors have checked him out. I was just with him, and as we speak, he is fine.''

''It's always a human thing,'' Brown said. ''He's a dear friend of mine. We've been with each other, known each other for a quarter of a century. That's not a short period of time, and so my immediate reaction is, `How is he?' He has such amazing endurance, and he's such an amazing competitor, when something like that happens, you're concerned.''

''AD, he has to be the focal point,'' Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. ''He has to spearhead the charge. That's the way we're built. He's embraced it. When Bron gets back, if AD can sustain that level, we're going to be as good as our preparation makes us.''

The Golden State Warriors won their first away game of the season after they beat the Houston Rockets 127-120. For the Warriors, Klay Thompson scored a season-high 41 points and Steph Curry added 33 points and Andrew Wiggins hit 6 of 11 3s and scored 22 points. Thompson had a vintage performance, hitting a sizzling 10 of 13 3-pointers and went 14 of 23 from the field. The Warriors snapped an 0-8 start away from home to improve to 8-9 on the season. Golden State has won five of its last seven games following a 3-7 start. For the Rockets, Kevin Porter Jr. led Houston with 30 points, Jabari Smith Jr. had 22, and Jalen Green added 16. Rookie Tari Eason scored a career-high 19 points and added eight rebounds off the bench.

''It didn't sit well with us, our 0-8 record,'' Curry said. ''We had to scratch and claw to get this one, so to get that monkey off your back and feel good about yourselves outside of the Chase Center, it matters.''

''It's just something for me to build on,'' Thompson said. ''I was really wanting a game like this, so it felt great for me to just let that thing fly.''

''I surprised myself with that shot,'' Curry said. ''Me and Draymond put our hands above our heads like we really won something, kind of making fun of ourselves for our slow start.''

''We played a great team, we got down big and fought back,'' Rockets coach Stephen Silas said. ''We took the lead, we were neck-in-neck down the stretch, and they had to make some great shots to beat us.
