Kerala Blasters FC rope in young Indian defender Hormipam Ruivah

According to a press release by Kerala Blasters FC, they have announced the signing of Hormipam Ruivah, the young Indian defender on a 3 – year deal that confirmed his stay at the club till 2024. The 20-year-old comes from Somdal, Manipur, and has been playing football right since his early childhood. He was also an integral member of the Indian Arrows team in the 2019-2020 season.

The young defender initially had enrolled in the Sports Authority of India (SAI) academy at Imphal in 2017. Hormipam, later in 2018 became a member of the U-18 team of Punjab FC which bagged him a call-up to the Indian U-18 squad. The center back played an important role with Minerva Punjab, clinching their first Hero Elite U-18 League in the 2018-2019 edition. He was also a member of the Indian side that triumphed in the 2019 SAFF U-18 Championship in Nepal.

In the 2019-20 season, Hormipam featured  for the Indian Arrows on loan from Punjab FC and started 14 games in defence. The youngster has displayed great consistency in his performances this season in his 9 outings for Punjab FC in the I-League, with six starts to his name, playing over 600 minutes.

I promise to strive harder and want to do the best for the Yellow Army in the future. I am eagerly waiting to begin my training with the team,” said Hormipam Ruivah.
