Jordan’s ’92-93 Gear Sells for \$2.6M

The Michael Jordan craze is still going strong!  A Chicago Bulls jersey and shorts that the great Michael Jordan wore during the historic 1992–1993 NBA season were recently purchased at auction for an incredible $2.6 million.  During the Bulls’ historic three-peat championship run, Jordan wore these legendary garments in 17 regular-season games, making them part of his final season before his initial retirement.

These gems aren’t just any memorabilia, the excited auction house claims.  Their genuine game-worn splendor and immaculate condition make them gleam like rare pearls.  The jersey has a softer feel due to the innumerable fights, perspiration, and washes it has undergone, displaying all the characteristics of hard play.  In addition, the shorts’ drawstring is a pretty pink color that shows how many washing they have endured—evidence that these things really did live the life on the court!

The story of Michael Jordan memorabilia fetching exorbitant prices continues with this transaction, adding another sparkling chapter.  Recall how a 2022 Finals jersey from Game 1 versus the Utah Jazz broke all previous records and sold for an incredible $10.1 million?  Not to mention the 1996–97 season jersey that sold for an incredible $4.6 million at a previous auction.

After the 1992–93 season, Jordan hung up his sneakers, but he returned with style in 1994–95, helping the Bulls win three more NBA titles.  In addition to documenting a basketball heyday, these artifacts give basketball fans a physical connection to the enchantment of one of the game’s most captivating icons.
