(Cricket news) On September 25, India will face Sri Lanka in the gold medal match in the Asian Games 2023 women’s cricket tournament. The final between India and Sri Lanka will take place at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China. The Asian Games 2023 women’s cricket final between India and Sri Lanka will be live streamed and televised in India.

The match between India and Sri Lanka is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. Indian Standard Time. The game will be played under T20 format. Women’s cricket competed in the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014, but was not included in Jakarta 2018. Pakistan won the gold medal in 2010 and 2014, both times defeating Bangladesh.

This is India’s first debut in the Asian Games women’s cricket tournament. Because of their T20 world rating, the Indian women’s cricket team advanced directly to the quarter-finals. Their quarter-final match against Malaysia was called off due to weather, although India advanced owing to higher seeding.

Smriti Mandhana’s India defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets in the semi-finals after pacer Pooja Vastrakar bowled a career-best spell (4/17) to dismiss Bangladesh for 51 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur, who was serving a two-match ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), will be ready for selection on Monday and is expected to replace Mandhana as captain.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan women’s cricket team competed in Incheon 2014 and earned a bronze medal. Sri Lanka is expected to improve its medal in Hangzhou. In Hangzhou, Sri Lanka defeated Thailand by eight wickets in the quarter-finals and Pakistan by six wickets in the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Udeshika Prabodhani took three wickets for Sri Lanka, limiting Pakistan to 75/9 in 20 overs.

Pakistan’s burst of wickets made the run chase interesting, but Sri Lanka held on and advanced to the gold medal final. In women’s T20 Internationals, the Indian women’s cricket team has a fantastic head-to-head record against Sri Lanka. India has won 18 of the 23 T20Is versus Sri Lanka. Pakistan and Bangladesh, the two losing semi-finalists, will compete for the bronze medal on Monday.
