(Cricket news) India whitewashed Bangladesh away from home 2-0 to win the Test series. The win has now solidified India’s position on the WTC table as they are now 2nd with 58.93 points percentage. South Africa and Sri Lanka are not far behind and India’s position isn’t guaranteed as they have 4 Tests against table toppers Australia coming up. The men in blue ended up making it a lot more difficult than it needed to be in the 2nd Test but the Bangladeshi bowlers were also excellent. The Australia series coming is make or break for this Indian side as they need to win the series to make it to their 2nd consecutive WTC final.

Cheteshwar Pujara was awarded the man of the series for scoring 222 runs in 4 innings. After being dropped for the series against Sri Lanka, Pujara played County Cricket where he became a run machine. He was called back for the Test against England where he had to open the innings.

Now in the series against Bangladesh where he looked really good. He was solid in his defence as usual but he also showed some shots that he added to his cannon. Pujara coming back to form ahead of the Australia series is incredible news for India. He has silenced people who were questioning his place in the side and he is well on his way to play 100 Test matches for India.

India’s bowling attack led by Ravichandran Ashwin was also incredible throughout the series. Even with the likes of Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja injured; Indian bowlers managed to get the job done and that too convincingly. Shreyas Iyer is having an incredible year across formats and he showed his quality in both these games. Shubman Gill scored his first Test century which puts pressure on the management to play him.

Rishabh Pant was like his usual self while Ashwin also batted well especially in the 2nd innings of the 2nd game. Jaydev Unadkat returned to the Test side after a long time and picked up 3 wickets. It will be interesting to see if he keeps his place in the squad once Shami and Bunrah return. The form of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul is possibly the only concern for team India going into the Border-Gavaskar series.
