Germany beats India 2-0 in women’s hockey at the Tokyo Olympics

(Hockey news) Olympic 2021 Live Update: The Indian Women’s hockey team lost 2-0 to  Germany in their second pool A match at the Oi Hockey Stadium South Pitch. They have lost their second straight match at the Tokyo Olympics which means they will have to finish strong in order to progress to the quarterfinals. They have 3 more matches to play and will be under pressure.

The Germans are off to a strong start as they have won their second successive match, they beat Britain in their first match by two goals to one. The first quarter saw Nike Lorenz strike in the 12th minute in a penalty corner. The second quarter did not see any goals from both the teams, the third quarter saw Anne Katarina Schroder scoring the second goal for Germany in the 35th minute to give a 2-0 lead. The final quarter did not see any goal scoring from either of the teams as the match ended in Germany’s favor.

The next match for the Indians is on the 28th against Britain and will look to win to stay in the race for the quarterfinals.
