Hawke’s Bay win the toss and choose to bowl against Hamilton

According to a press release by New Zealand Cricket, New Hawke Bay’s captain Jayden Lennox has won the toss and chose to bowl at Napier’s Nelson Park in the final Hawke Cup Challenge Match of 2021. Lining up for Hawke’s Bay are five first-class Central Stags players including left-arm spinner Lennox, leg spinner Brad Schmulian, all rounder Christian Leopard and pace bowlers Ben Stoyanoff and Liam Dudding who are opening the attack. Bayley Wiggins has also played white ball cricket for the Central Stags. Dudding has already picked up two early wickets in his first spell including three Northern District representatives: keeper-batsman Peter Bocock, spinning all rounder and former BLACKCAP Anton Devcich and Hamilton captain and spinner Freddy Walker. A team must win outright or be ahead in the first innings if there is a draw to win the Hawke Cup. Standing in the match over three days are International umpires Chris Brown and Wayne Knights.
