Legendary German footballer Lothar Matthaus has once again focused on Angelo Stiller, one of the nation’s up-and-coming players.
In the approaching summer transfer window, the former Bayern Munich player is adamant that Stiller, who is currently playing for Stuttgart, would be the ideal acquisition for Hansi Flick, a close friend.
If Barcelona decides to pursue Stiller, Matthaus is confident that he could strengthen the midfield.
It’s interesting to note that Barcelona has previously been linked to Stiller’s name. The Stuttgart player was linked to a possible move to Barcelona during the club’s fierce midfield reinforcement hunt last summer.
Stiller’s style of play is ideal for Barcelona’s ideology, according to Matthaus. He believes that the youthful midfielder may help the Catalan team by stabilizing and organizing their midfield.
“Stiller’s style of play would be beneficial for Barça.” I believe him and if Barcelona were to sell, his signing would be conceivable and sensible,” he said as quoted by SPORT.
If Barcelona were to make changes to their midfield lineup this summer, Stiller could be a top-tier replacement for Frenkie de Jong, whose future is uncertain.
Stiller’s ascent has been remarkable. After growing under Hansi Flick in Bayern Munich’s junior academy, the midfield player moved to Stuttgart in search of better possibilities.
Even though Stiller’s Stuttgart contract expires in 2027, his market value is rising gradually.
It is currently estimated that any agreement to hire him would have to pay at least €30 million. This might be a wise investment for Barcelona in a young player with potential and demonstrated talent.
