Will it be realistic for Real Madrid to sign both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland?

(Football news) Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are two of the hottest prospects in world football right now. Despite being 21 and 23 respectively the pair are up there with the best players in the world. Both of them have been linked with a transfer move in 2022. It goes without saying that it would be a big money move.

It is pretty clear by now that if Mbappe leaves PSG it will only be for Real Madrid. No other club was ever in the race for the Frenchman's signature apart from Los Blancos. Both Real Madrid and Mbappe wanted the transfer to happen in the summer of 2021 but PSG remained firm and the deal couldn't go through. Right now a January move doesn't look likely. PSG representatives have said that it is clear what Mbappe wants but they are still making progress on the contract talks. The forward's current contract with PSG ends in 2022 which means that he is legally allowed to sign a pre contract with Real Madrid. The Mbappe situation is very clear that he will either move to Real Madrid or stay at PSG.

The Erling Halaand situation is a little different to his counterparts. His agent Mino Raiola has been very vocal about the fact that Halaand is very likely to switch clubs in the summer. The agent named Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona as potential destinations. Recently BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed that Real Madrid are very interested in Haaland who will be available for €75m in July 2022 due to his release clause. BVB and Real Madrid have carried quite a few transfers within themselves and the club have a good relationship which always helps. The La Liga president has openly stated that Real Madrid can afford to sign both Halaand and Mbappe due to their strong financial condition despite the pandemic.

The recently flamed interest in Haaland brings up a few questions. Have Real Madrid given up on Mbappe and turned to Halaand or is the Norwegian just a backup in case Mbappe decides to extend his stay in Paris? The question that excites Real Madrid fans the most is if Real Madrid could actually go on and sign the top two youngsters in world football in the same transfer window whilst already having another top young talent in Vinicius Jr.

Real Madrid especially under Florentino Perez are most definitely capable of doing so. If Real Madrid do sign both the players they will have to get rid of some players. Luka Jovic, Marco Asensio, Isco, Dani Ceballos, Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard are a few candidates. If Los Blancos do sign both of them then Rodrygo's development will be a problem. Karim Benzema still has 2-3 years at the top level while Vinicius Jr has just started to showcase his true potential. There will be a lot of competition in the Real Madrid squad.

Manchester City has an emotional connection with Erling Haaland as his father Alf-Inge Haaland played with them. City do need a striker but it is said that they would prefer to sign Harry Kane instead. Bayern Munich is the next step for any 2orld class BVB player more often than not. It doesn't look like Barcelona can afford Haaland but things could change if the Blaugrana sell some players and clear the dead wood which evidently they have a lot of.
