Will Bayern Munich be a good move for Cristiano Ronaldo?

(Cricket news) At the start of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo made a fairy tale return to Manchester United. The Portuguese legend left Juventus to join the club where he became one of football's all time greats. That fairy tale has somewhat become a nightmare as the season has progressed. Manchester United are going to be without a piece of silverware for the 5th consecutive season. As things stand the Red Devils need a big miracle to finish in the top 4.

Despite all these hardships, Cristiano Ronaldo has been scoring important goals throughout the season. He has scored 17 league goals, which is far more than any other Manchester United player. He is the 2nd top scorer in the league behind Mohamed Salah who has 22 goals and is equal with Son Heung-min. In the UEFA Champions League, he has scored 6 out of 12 goals scored by United and all 6 of those goals were extremely crucial. If not for Ronaldo's goals, Manchester United wouldn't have made it to the UCL Round of 16. Ronaldo has also been criticised for his lack of pressing which has been unfair more often than not.

Cristiano Ronaldo as a player was never a pressing forward just like the majority of the great strikers such as Ronaldo Nazario, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Eric Cantona. It's definitely not an age thing as even in his prime, Ronaldo would often save his energy by not pressing. Despite all this in United's 1-1 draw at the Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo ran a lot and had to track back on the left side to stop Reece James. The only issue is that having Ronaldo in the squad means that he will want to start all the games even at the age of 37 which isn't ideal if the club wants to groom a younger striker.

During his entire professional career, Ronaldo has always played in the UCL. Manchester United are likely to play in the Europa League or even worse in the Europa Conference League. Reports suggest that Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is going to hold talks with Manchester United over Ronaldo's future. Bayern Munich are said to have contacted Mendes over Ronaldo's potential transfer. Robert Lewandowski is heavily linked with a move away from Bayern Munich to Barcelona.

Ronaldo will provide a very short term replacement but the fact that he has still scored 17 goals in the Premier League proves that he can still produce the goods for Bayern Munich. The commercial and cultural impact of Ronaldo's signing would be massive for the Bavarian side. The Portuguese talisman has never played in the Bundesliga but has scored tons of goals against German teams in the past. Ronaldo will definitely get more personal and collective success in Bayern Munich but he may have a point to prove at Manchester United which is why he may choose to stay. A lot depends on Erik Ten Hag and what he wants to do when he eventually takes over the club.
