Tottenham host Liverpool; Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea face away challenges

(Football news) Premier League is officially entering the holiday season. It has been disrupted because of the Covid outbreak in various clubs. There are talks about canceling all games until next year but there is nothing official as of now. Five games in this matchweek have been canceled while the other five will go on as per schedule.

Arsenal travel to Elland road to face Leeds United. Mikel Arteta's side has won their last two games to come back from their back to back losses against Manchester United and Everton. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains unavailable due to disciplinary reasons. Bernd Leno and Saed Kolasinac are out with injuries while Gabriel Martinelli is doubtful. Arsenal entered the top 4 after their win against West Ham and could strengthen their position with a win against the relegation-threatened Leeds.

Manchester City play away at Newcastle United. City have won their last 7 Premier League games and are on top of the table. The Magpies under new manager Eddie Howe haven't been able to make significant movements up the table as they are still 19th on the table. Ferran Torres is the only Manchester City player unavailable due to injury. Pep Guardiola has a big advantage in this busy festive period due to the squad depth.

Wolves host Chelsea at the Molineux stadium. Thomas Tuchel's side is going through a little bit of a slump as they haven't won a game comfortably in a while. They are 4 points behind league leaders Manchester City as they sit third on the table. Jorginho and Ruben Loftus Cheek are doubtful for the game while Romelu Lukaku, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi are all out with Covid. Chelsea are really short of options in the middle of the park as N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have just returned from their injuries.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool go head to head at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. This will be Tottenham's first game since their win against Norwich on 5th December as they were the first Premier League team to have a Covid outbreak. Cristian Romero is still unavailable due to injury while it is unclear on how many and which players are affected with Covid. Liverpool on the other hand are without Divock Origi, Nat Phillips, Harvey Elliott and Adrian through injuries while Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones are doubtful after their being tested positive for coronavirus.
