Takeaways from UEFA Champions League 2022/23 group stage draw

(Football news) The UEFA Champions League group stage draw has been completed as 32 teams have been divided into 8 different groups. The matches will start from 6th September and it will be a different tournament this year due to the world cup happening in December. There are quite a few interesting groups and fixtures to look forward to in the competition. Real Madrid will be looking to defend their Champions League for the 3rd time after doing it in 2017 and 2018, something which no other team has done.

The group of death is definitely Group C consisting of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen. Barcelona missed out on the UCL knockouts last season and they will be determined to do well this season. The group is definitely not an easy one. Barcelona have been haunted by Bayern Munich in the recent Champions League seasons but this time Robert Lewandowski is on their side. Lewandowski will be back playing at the Allianz Arena which will be very interesting to see. Erling Haaland will also play against his old club Borussia Dortmund as Manchester City are in a group with them along with Sevilla and Copenhagen.

PSG vs Juventus is another clash which will attract a lot of eyes as will Milan vs Chelsea. Defending Champions Real Madrid are in a group with RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic. Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt are pitted in a group with Tottenham Hotspur, Sporting Lisbon and Olympique Marseille. Atletico Madrid and Porto are in the same group for the 2nd season in a row this time with Bayer Leverkusen and Club Brugge.
