Stuttgart secure late draw against German champions Bayern Munich

(Football news) Bayern Munich were forced to settle for their third consecutive draw in the Bundesliga after conceding a stoppage time equaliser in a 2-2 draw against VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena. The hosts began the game strongly as forward Mathys Tel found the back of the net in the 36th minute and the 17 year old became the youngest player to start a league game for Bayern Munich. Julian Nagelsmann rotated heavily to ensure his team was fresh after defeating Inter Milan 2-0 in the Champions League but his team dropped their performance standards in the second half, allowing Stuttgart to score the equaliser in the 57th minute through Chris Fuehrich.

However, the scores were level for only three minutes as another Bayern teenager, 19 year old Jamal Musiala managed to find the back of the net in the 60th minute. Stuttgart had the opportunity to level the score once again in the 74th minute when Guirassy's shot from 18 metres hit the crossbar. The visitors were then awarded a stoppage time penalty following a foul by Matthijs de Ligt on Guirassy who beat Manuel Neuer to secure an invaluable team for Stuttgart.

In other results, RB Leipzig defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 with goals from Willi Orban, Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara. New manager Marco Rose will be undoubtedly pleased with his team’s performance and could not have asked for a better result after a 4-1 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. His team face a more difficult test next week when they take on European champions Real Madrid and will look to build on their performance against Borussia Dortmund.

Leipzig opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Orban’s header and should have scored again through Timo Werner. Leipzig eventually doubled their lead through Amadou Haidara in the 84th minute after some sloppy defending from the visitors. As for Dortmund, they will be concerned about their performance after failing to get a single shot on target in the entire game. They will take on Manchester City in their next match.
