Sony Pictures Networks India acquires broadcasting rights for Copa America 2021

According to a press release Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has bagged the exclusive TV and digital rights for Copa America 2021 in the Indian subcontinent till December 31, 2021. The broadcast territories will constitute India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The event will be broadcasted in India LIVE on SPN’s sports channels and live streamed on SPN’s OTT streaming platform – SonyLIV from June 14, 2021 to July 11, 2021.

This will be the first time since 1983 that Copa America will be hosted by two countries – Argentina and Colombia. The event will feature 10 teams with two groups of five teams each. The first group will include Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, and Bolivia and will play their games in Argentina. Whereas the second group of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, will play their games in Colombia. The opening match of Copa America 2021 will be contested between 14-time champions Argentina clashing against Chile on June 14 at Buenos Aires.

The Copa America 2021 will likely feature top footballers like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, Dani Alves, Gabriel Jesus, James Rodriguez, Roberto Firmino, Pablo Dybala, Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez among others.

With this, Sony Pictures Networks India’s elaborate football portfolio now consists of UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA EURO 2020, FA Cup, UEFA Nations League, FIFA European qualifiers, Serie A and Copa America 2021.
