Real Madrid’s best signing of the season is not Alaba or Camavinga

(Football news) Real Madrid are having an incredible season under Carlo Ancelotti. They have already secured the La Liga title and are also in the UEFA Champions League final. Earlier this year they also won the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid's main target in the summer was Kylian Mbappe who had agreed to join the club but PSG refused to negotiate. The Los Blancos lost Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane but signed David Alaba for free. After the Mbappe deal fell through, Real Madrid signed Eduardo Camavinga for €31 million. Madrid had been monitoring the teenager for a long time and had planned to sign him for free before next season. The plans changed when Mbappe's transfer fell through and it turned out to be an amazing decision.

Both Alaba and Camavinga have been incredible this season. Alaba has settled in at the club and become a leader of the team. He has been rock solid at the back and has formed a good partnership with Eder Militao. 19 year old Camavinga's progress has been incredible as well. He started off with a bang as he scored a goal in his first substitute appearance and in his second substitute appearance assisted a last minute winner against Inter in the UCL. There were a few mediocre performances when he was in the starting XI and there were a couple of times where he was substituted at half time. His discipline has been an issue but he has improved on it. In Real Madrid's comebacks against PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City, Camavinga has been the key. The midfielder is surely the present and the future of the team.

Carlo Ancelotti has also been an incredible appointment. He has been criticised for some decisions but ultimately when it mattered the most he has delivered. Despite Ancelotti, Alaba and Camavinga having good seasons, none of them are Real Madrid's best acquisitions. The best signing has undoubtedly been Antonio Pintus. Real Madrid last season suffered a lot of injuries which ended up costing them a lot as they ended up trophyless. Florentino Perez responded by re-hiring fitness coach Antonio Pintus. The Italian was at Real Madrid from 2016 to 2019 but later joined Inter Milan. Romelu Lukaku has publicly stated many times that Pintus is the one who got him in shape.

Real Madrid haven't had too many injuries this season apart from the relapses of players like Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale who were injured coming into the season. Senior players such as Luka Modric and Karim Benzema have managed to stay fit despite playing 90 and sometimes 120 minutes of football week in week out. The Real Madrid side without rotations has never looked tired. After the win over Manchester City, Luka Modric was seen celebrating with Pintus while shouting 'The Pintus method'. The Italian is a huge character in the dressing room and is always seen on the touchline celebrating goals with the players. He has often arranged mini pre-seasons which keeps the players fit and he is planning to do the same before the UCL final this season.
