Real Madrid to send Luka Jovic on loan to Fiorentina

(Football news) Real Madrid are reportedly in negotiations with Fiorentina for the loan of Luka Jovic. The player has accepted the move and the only things left to decide is whether there will be a option/obligation to buy and what percentage of the wages will Real Madrid pay. Real Madrid are desperate to get Jovic out of the club to make some space for potential new signings and understandably so. It is pretty clear that Carlo Ancelotti doesn't count on Jovic and the Serbian is not a part of his plans.

Jovic has had a very difficult time at Real Madrid. Karim Benzema's brilliance and fitness has not let Jovic have regular game time. Real Madrid's reliance on Benzema is such that the Frenchman is rarely rested. Even when Benzema is unavailable both Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane have preferred other players over Jovic. The pressure of Real Madrid seems to have gotten to Jovic and he certainly wasn't ready for it at the age of 22. Real Madrid had spent a reported €60 million for his services back in 2019 and after just 3 goals in 33 appearances, it is safe to say that it has been money down the drain.

Jovic has shown the quality he has with Eintracht Frankfurt, having scored 25 goals in 49 games. He has recently been in good goalscoring form with the Serbian national team which shows that he can still do a job. Jovic is a pure poacher and has the ability to be deadly in front of goal. He needs a system where he can get loads of service without having to participate in the build-up, something which didn't happen at Real Madrid. Jovic still might have a future at Real Madrid once Karim Benzema eventually slows down. He will need to perform exceedingly well at Fiorentina for that to happen.
