PSV beat AS Monaco to face Rangers in the UCL playoff finals

(Football news) Rangers defeated Union SG after a stunning turnaround and now will play PSV in the Champions League play-off finals. Gio van Bronckhorst's men moved within two games of joining their arch rival, Celtic in the group stages after overturning last week's 2-0 defeat in the first leg in Belgium as they notched an incredible 3-0 win tonight at Ibrox yesterday. Goals from Rangers captain James Tavernier, Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman sent the home crowd wild as the Light Blues completed a famous comeback.

There was plenty of drama in Eindhoven too as PSV battled Monaco at the Philips Stadion. The teams played a 1-1 draw in France last week but PSV managed to get the job done after a thrilling 3-2 win in extra-time. Rangers will now host PSV in the first leg at Ibrox on August 16 or 17 before making the trip to Holland a week later where the second leg will decide who lands a £40million Champions League jackpot. A defeat to either side will see them drop into the Europa League group stages.

PSV Eindhoven defeated AS Monaco 4-3 on aggregate in the Champions League play-off round. The Dutch team dispatched the Ligue 1 side over two legs after a hard-fought 3-2 extra-time win on their home ground. Both sides drew 1-1 in the first leg in the French Principality last week. New signing Joey Veerman put the Eredivisie side in front after 21 minutes to put the host in the driving seat. Monaco clawed their way back in the game with Guillermo Maripán's 58th-minute strike. The former Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder got what looked like a crucial second 12 minutes later to put the Principality team into the driving seat Erick Gutierrez grabbed a brilliant 89th minute equaliser after being set up by Luuk De Jong.The the former Barcelona player grabbed the winner with ten minutes of added time remaining to send the home into ecstasy.
