Premier League: Chelsea face Wolves while Man Utd take on Brighton

(Football news) Chelsea will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday and will hope to consolidate their third place in the Premier League after a few disappointing results. The Blues lost 1-0 to Everton last week and need to overturn their form, having won just one game in their last four in the league. Their lead against Arsenal has been cut to just three points and Tuchel’s team will also have an eye on the FA Cup final.

As for Wolves, they were defeated by Brighton 3-0 at the Molineux Stadium and they are hoping to secure qualification in the Europa Conference League for next season. However, Bruno Lage’s team have lost three consecutive games in the Premier League and desperately need points to keep their ambitions alive

In team news, N'Golo Kante might be back in the squad for Chelsea while Andreas Christensen and Ross Barkley appear to have recovered from illness. Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi continue to be unavailable and Tuchel is expected to choose from Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech in attack. As for Wolves, Nelson Semedo is out for the season due to a thigh injury while Daniel Podence and Maximilian Kilman are also in the treatment room. Despite the poor results recently, Chelsea should be able to secure the three points in this fixture.

Brighton will welcome Manchester United at the Amex Stadium on Saturday with both teams looking to build on their 3-0 win from their last matches. The hosts are currently in ninth place although Leicester City is just two points behind with two games in hand. Brighton’s home form has been poor in 2022 as they haven’t won a single game at the Amex Stadium, drawing four and losing four since their win over Brentford on Boxing Day. They are also not a free scoring side, only scoring 12 goals at home, which is the joint worst record in the league to the already-relegated Norwich City.

As for Manchester United, they are currently sixth in the Premier League table and will need a miracle to qualify for the Champions League next season. In team news, Brighton’s Enock Mwepu is unavailable due to injury but Adam Lallana or Pascal Gross are expected to replace him. Jakub Moder remains unavailable while Jeremy Sarmiento is doubtful due to a hamstring issue. For Man Utd, Harry Maguire (knee), Jadon Sancho (tonsillitis), Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw are unavailable for selection. We expect Ralf Rangnick’s team to edge out a result in this fixture after an impressive performance in the last match.
