Nottingham Forest agree £42.5m deal with Wolves for Morgan Gibbs-White

(Football news) Newly promoted side Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Morgan Gibbs-White with the fee believed to be £42.5m. Forest had three bids rejected for the 22 year old but with the deal being struck, the player is expected to travel for a medical in the next 24 hours.

According to the agreement, Forest will be paid an initial fee of £25m with performance related and bonus add-ons amounting to £17.5m. According to Fabrizio Romano, Gibbs-White has signed the contract with Nottingham Forest until 2027 on a five year contract.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been Nottingham Forest’s number 1 midfield target all summer and the player has previously featured under Forest boss Steve Cooper while on loan at Swansea City during the 2020/21 season. It has been a busy transfer window for the newly promoted side who are now the second highest spenders in the Premier League with 16 players signed so far.

Gibbs-White is a reliable midfield option, having played every minute of Wolves’ two Premier League fixtures so far but with Wolves signing Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon, the club won’t miss Gibbs-White too much. However, for a newly promoted team such as Nottingham Forest, a transfer worth £42.5m is undoubtedly a big sum and there will be pressure on the 22 year old to hit the ground running and justify his price tag.
