Newly promoted side Fulham make £8.6m offer for Andreas Pereira

(Football news) Premier League club Fulham have made an offer of 10m euros (£8.6m) for Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira. The 26 year old has been at the club since 2014 but lack of first team opportunities has meant that the Brazilian midfielder has been loaned out to four different clubs, his most recent being at Flamengo where he played in the 2021 Copa Libertadores final.

There has been speculation that the player could be handed a lifeline by new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, especially considering that the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic have left the club. The club are yet to sign a player this transfer window and Pereira could make a valuable addition to the squad, especially for the cup competitions. The Brazilian has 12 months left on his Manchester United contract and Flamengo have the choice to make a move for Pereira permanent, with manager Dorival Junior recently saying that he would like to exercise that option.

Speaking to reporters, Junior said “It's just an opinion. I hope he stays. Players of this level, players with this potential, are few in Brazil. I have no doubt that this boy can still grow a lot, he can evolve a lot. How will it happen? I don't know, but it would be really nice if we could hold onto this kid because he has a lot of qualities. He is a player that draws attention in any way. He has growth potential, players of that level are scarce at the moment within this country."

However, as things stand, a move to Fulham is more likely for the 26 year old who are understood to be offering an upfront fee of €10m (£8.6m) rising up to €13m (£11.2m) with performance related add-ons with personal terms yet to be agreed. It would be wise for Manchester United and Pereira to part ways, as the transfer fee could bolster the Red Devils’ pursuit for Frenkie De Jong and give the Brazilian midfielder the playing team he needs at this stage of his career. He has only made 75 senior appearances for Manchester United, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
