Manchester United keeping tabs on Ajax winger Antony

(Football news) Manchester United in a time of rebuilding are yet to make a signing in the transfer window. The club has been linked to many players including Frenkie De Jong, Jurrien Timber and Sergino Dest. None of the rumours have been concrete, much to the frustrations of Manchester United fans. Another player who got linked with United as soon as Erik ten Hag's appointment was made official was Brazilian winger Antony. The player has been a key part of Ten Hag's Ajax team for the past couple of seasons.

Antony Has been linked with a few big European clubs but Ten Hag's presence at Manchester United will definitely help. The big problem is the absence of Champions League football. A lot will depend on Ten Hag and how he wants to build the team. Antony is up there with the best dribblers in the world and his technical ability on the ball is as good as any other player globally. He usually plays on the right wing where he has the ability to turn defenders inside out with his trickery. On top of that he also has a pretty sweet left foot from which he can strike the ball really well. Last season he got 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games in all competitions.

Manchester United really lacked some creativity on the wings last season. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho didn't look on top of their game last season while Anthony Elanga did show some promises. Signing Antony from Ajax would be a step in the right direction as he isn't one of the signings which would make the world take notice but it has every possibility of being effective. Antony still has 3 years left on his contract which means he could cost over €50 million. One thing that needs to change with Manchester United is their speed of negotiating. It often takes Manchester United way too long to get deals done. Antony Is just one of the many signings Ten Hag will need in order to get Manchester United back to at least competing for the top two positions in the League.
