Manchester City to trigger 75m release clause for Erling Haaland

(Football news) Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are ready to trigger a 75 million euro release clause for Borussia Dortmund in order to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this summer. Haaland’s 75 million euro fee (£62m) is considered below market value and the 21 year old Norwegian could earn an estimated £500,000 per week as part of the deal.

Various reports suggest that the German club are eyeing Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi as Haaland’s replacement. Ever since Sergio Aguero departed, Manchester City have often played without a recognized striker as the club failed to lure Harry Kane from Tottenham in the summer transfer window, despite the England international wanting to secure the move in order to win silverware.

Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2020 and scored an impressive 82 goals in 85 games. Despite having a number of injuries this season, Haaland has still scored 25 goals in 26 games as Dortmund aim to compete for the title and will face Bayern Munich this weekend. Real Madrid are also rumored to be interested in the 21 year old, but Los Blancos will prioritize the signing of Karim Benzema who is available for free after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain will expire this summer.
