Man Utd face tough test against Spurs while Liverpool take on Brighton

(Football news) Brighton & Hove Albion will welcome Liverpool to the Amex Stadium on Saturday, hoping to end their four game losing streak. The Seagulls lost their last match against Newcastle 2-1 while Liverpool progressed into the quarter finals of the Champions League despite losing 1-0 to Inter Milan at Anfield.

In team news, Graham Potter has reiterated that Adam Webster will be unavailable for selection due to injury while Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarmiento are expected to be in contention for a place in the starting lineup. Adam Lallana and Yves Bissouma could feature in midfield against their former sides while Neal Maupay could be selected over Danny Welbeck up front.

As for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino is expected to feature in the team after missing out on the match against Inter Milan but Ibrahima Konate remains doubtful after suffering a knock. Jurgen Klopp is expected to make changes in the starting lineup with Jordan Henderson and Luis Diaz featuring in the team while Thiago Alcantara might be rested after recently recovering from a hamstring issue. Anything less than a win would be a disappointing result for the Reds if they intend to keep pace with league leaders Manchester City.

Two top four rivals will face each other in an exciting clash at Old Trafford when Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The Red Devils will look to get back to winning ways after a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium while Tottenham swept aside Everton 5-0. Harry Kane surpassed Thierry Henry’s record in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts with his 175th and 176th goals in the competition.

In team news, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani remain doubts due to injuries while Raphael Varane is back in training after recovering from COVID-19. Luke Shaw is currently recovering from an illness and it remains to be seen if he will be available. Marcus Rashford could feature in the starting lineup due to the limited attacking options while Diogo Dalot could be re-introduced to the lineup in place of Aaron Wan Bissaka.

For Spurs, Ryan Sessegnon is unavailable due to a muscular problem while Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga are also injured. Matt Doherty is expected to keep Emerson Royal out of the starting lineup while Sergio Reguilon is expected to feature after scoring a goal in the last match. Both teams are expected to adopt a cautious approach and a draw seems like the most likely outcome of the fixture.
