Liverpool take on Norwich and City face Peterborough in the FA Cup

(Football news) Manchester City face championship side Peterborough United in a bid to qualify for the quarterfinals. Peterborough are fighting relegation in the Championship compared to Man City who are flying high in the Premier League as they currently sit first, six points clear of second-placed Liverpool, who have a game in hand. Pep Guardiola's side suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last weekend but were quick to respond back to winning ways at Goodison Park on Saturday. 

The Cityzens have hardly broken sweat in this season's FA Cup, winning 4-1 at Swindon Town in the third round and then going on to beat the Championship leaders Fulham by the same scoreline. Man City enter this tie as firm favourites, Pep will look to rotate his squad and give youngsters the opportunity to shine. For City, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo all will be given a well deserved rest.

Liverpool, fresh off their victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup final on Sunday will take on Norwich for the second in a fortnight. After 120 minutes of wasted opportunities and disallowed goals in the EFL Cup final, Liverpool and Chelsea struck 21 perfect penalties before Kepa – blazed his penalty over the bar for them to win their 9th EFL cup in their clubs history and win their 49th trophy in all. Liverpool had a pair of comfortable Anfield victories over Shrewsbury Town and Cardiff City in the FA Cup to reach the 5th round for just the second time in seven seasons, and they have subsequently not  reached the semi-finals since the 2014-15 season.

A first FA Cup triumph since 2006 might be a possibility for Jurgen Klopp’s side who aims to keep Liverpool's chances for an unprecedented quadruple alive, and Norwich must now face a Liverpool which is a 10-game winning streak in all competitions and mainly they haven’t lost in t Anfield for nearly a year. For Liverpool, Roberto Firmino remains in the treatment room with his muscular problem, Thiago will also be out of this clash after picking up a knock in the warmup during the EFL cup final.

Tottenham Hotspur take on Middlesbrough who beat Manchester United in the 4th round, Antonio Conte's side returned to winning ways when they beat struggling Leeds United 4-0 in the Premier League. This result left them in seventh place in the table, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United but most importantly have two games in hand. Spurs have won their two home matches to progress into the 5th round of  FA Cup after a 3-1 win over Morecambe before beating Brighton by the same scoreline. Tottenham have won the FA Cup on eight previous occasions, the last of which was in 1991, but their trophy drought still looms large as Antonio Conte hopes that this competition breaks that duck. For Spurs , Rodrigo Bentancur will miss out with an ankle problem, while Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga are still nursing their previous injuries.
