Juventus beat Fiorentina to face Inter in the Coppa Italia final

(Football news) Juventus comfortably beat Fiorentina 2-0 in the second leg in Turin as they progressed to the Coppa Italia final for the second year running. Federico Bernardeschi and Danilo earned them a victory on Wednesday, sealing a 3-0 aggregate success. Having snatched a fortunate victory in the first leg in Florence after a  last-gasp own goal, Juve started the match in dominating fashion in the Juventus Stadium, but they struggled to turn early game  possession into clear cut chances early on. Dusan Vlahovic, facing his former club, saw his effort saved brilliantly by Dragowski before Bernardeschi finally opened the scoring with a fine finish that gave the hosts the much deserved lead in the 32nd minute.

Adrien Rabiot had the ball in the net in the second half but his goal was ruled out by a VAR review. With Fiorentina committing bodies forward down the other end it made them vulnerable at the back as Juventus played on the counter and finally Danilo managed to put the game to bed in stoppage time. With Massimiliano Allegri's side trailing AC Milan by eight points with five games left, for Juve their best chance of landing a trophy this season remains in the Coppa Italia, where they will face Inter in the 11 May final and hope to retain their title. Allegri has faced a lot of criticism in the Italian media with Juventus fourth in the Serie A standings and having seen his side again knocked out at the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

"I am here for the next three years," Allegri told the media. "Having said that, Juventus must always challenge themselves to win titles.

"The thing that most disappoints me is losing the (Serie A) match against Inter (three weeks ago), because that is the result that left us without a chance in the league.

"We should congratulate the lads, as reaching the final against Inter was an objective for the season. It had been a tough few days after the draw with Bologna (at the weekend), when we failed to make the most of many chances."
