Jamshedpur FC progress to second place after defeating FC Goa in the ISL

(Football news) Jamshedpur FC defeated FC Goa 1-0, thereby taking Owen Coyle’s team to second place in the Indian Super League while the Gaurs remained ninth, having played four games without a win. Daniel Chima Chukwu (49’) scored in his first outing for the Men of Steel after transferring to the club in January.

The match began on an eventful note as Daniel Chukwu narrowly missed the target with his left footed shot while Ivan Gonzalez’s header hit the underside of the crossbar. The rebound fell towards Edu Bedia but his low shot was saved by TP Rehenesh. Three yellow cards were handed in the first half to Alex Lima, Anwar Ali and Daniel Chukwu as the match became a feisty affair between the two sides. Jamshedpur FC pushed on for a goal in the second half and were soon rewarded through debutant Chukwu in the 49th minute whose volley went past Naveen Kumar. FC Goa almost equalized after the hour mark as Ali’s shot hit the crossbar but didn’t go in. In the 80th minute, Airan Cabrera hit the crossbar for the third time as FC Goa desperately looked to salvage the match. Jamshedpur FC defended their lead with collective force and also had some luck on their side which helped them secure all three points.
