Ivan Perisic is close to joining Tottenham Hotspur

(Football news) Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Inter Milan player Ivan Perisic. According to Fabrizio Romano, he confirmed yesterday that Antonio Conte will now definitely stay on as the Spurs for another season following his role in the club. With his future sorted Tottenham and their hierarchy can start working on bringing in their summer targets with Perisic looking likely to be their second signing this week after buying Fraser Forster for free this week

The 33-year-old has been an integral cog in Simone Inzaghi’s squad and has subsequently scored ten goals and provided eight assists in 49 appearances in all competitions this season and the Croatian has now bagged 55 goals in 254 matches since joining Inter in 2015 as it included a loan spell at Bayern Munich also. In a series of tweets yesterday, Romano claimed that Inter Milan ‘have not received any official answer from Perisic yet after the last bid to extend his contract’ with Tottenham closing on him and beating the likes of Chelsea and Juventus for his signature. Reports in Italy already claim that the 33-year-old has already signed a three year deal with Tottenham and will be earning somewhere around £100,000-a-week.

Spurs have been targeting Perisic for a long time along with Chelsea and Juventus, but the fact that he won the Scudetto under Conte last year drove him to Spurs. Antonio Conte was always keen on purchasing Perisic since he is somewhat of a utility player. In 2020 he went on to lift the Champions League title on loan at Bayern Munich. Conte had a meeting with Tottenham's director of football Fabio Paratici on Friday to discuss the club's future and the players to buy in the summer under his management, and it has been reported that he wants to sign several players to bolster the squad.

The Croatian has a vast CV, winning 113 caps for his country and scoring in the 2018 World Cup final. He joined Inter in 2015 from Wolfsburg but initially he was out of favour with the previous managers but Conte helped him revive his career. Antonio Conte has a long wish list of potential new signings beyond Perisic, which includes his Inter team-mate Alessandro Bastoni, Djed Spence and Pau Torres
