Italy and Argentina face off in the return of Finalissma

(Football news) Wembley will host the first Finalissima since 1993 where the UEFA Euro winners Italy will take on Copa America winners Argentina. There were two previous editions of the contest when it was known as Artemio Franchi Cup in 1985 and 1993 respectively. France won in 1985 by defeating Uruguay while Argentina defeated Denmark to win 1993. Now the match has returned and it promises to be better than ever. 

In the last international break Italy faced a massive upset as they lost to North Macedonia in the World Cup qualifiers playoff. This will be the 2nd consecutive World Cup which will not feature Italy. Italy did however have an excellent campaign in the Euros. They will be looking to make up for their World Cup failure by winning the Finallisma trophy. Argentina have had an incredible couple of years internationally. They went unbeaten in the Copa America as they won the trophy after 29 years. Messi and co. will be looking to clinch another trophy before the World Cup to assert their dominance.

Italy possible playing XI:

Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Emerson; Barella, Jorginho, Verratti; Bernardeschi, Scamacca, Insigne

Argentina possible playing XI:

Emiliano Martinez; Montiel, Romero, Otamendi, Acuna; De Paul, Paredes, Lo Celso; Messi, Martinez, Di Maria

Ciro Immobile is the big miss for Italy after the striker was ruled out due to an ankle injury. Domenico Berardi, Moise Kean, Nicolo Zaniolo and Andrea Pinamonti have also pulled out of the squad due to injuries. Argentina on the other hand have a fully fit squad with a lot of depth. Lionel Messi will lead the attack which will also have Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez. Italy's defence as usual will be solid as a rock and won't be broken down easily. The battle between the two midfield trio is going to be very crucial in the game.
