Is Youri Tielemans good enough for Real Madrid?

(Football news) Real Madrid have just become 35 time La Liga winners and are also in the semi finals of the UCL. It has been a good season for Real Madrid and at the heart of it all is their evergreen midfield. The trio of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro has been running the show for Real Madrid since 2016. This season, Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde have added more legs in midfield.

Despite the fact that their performances have been consistent, age will catch up eventually. Modric's current deal expires in June but a 1 year extension is imminent. Kroos' contract expires in the summer of 2023. The German during his contract signing in 2019 announced that it will be his last long term renewal as he doesn't want to play for longer than his body allows to. Reports state that the player and the club will take a decision only in the last 6 months of his contract. This means that midfielder can retire after the 2022/23 season or leave Real Madrid to play at a club with less pressure. If Real Madrid lose these two stalwarts then they will need people to fill in. Only Camavinga and Valverde will not do as there will have to be some competition.

Real Madrid are heavily linked with young Monaco starlet Aurélien Tchouaméni. The player is said to be interested in the move but there are Premier League clubs interested in him as well. Reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid may not want to spend too much money on a player who isn't going to be a guaranteed starter. Dani Ceballos has been very impressive in recent performances and rumours say that Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep the player and thinks that he is the future of the club. Another player linked with a move to the Spanish capital is Youri Tielemans.

Ever since joining Leicester City from Monaco in 2019, Tielemans has been one of the most consistent midfielders in England. He is now seeking a move away from the King Power Stadium. The midfielder's current contract expires in 2023 and Leicester City will have to sell them in order to avoid losing him for free. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are all interested in his services but reports suggest that Tielemans wants a move to Spain. The Leicester man is more established than someone like a Tchouaméni.

The fact that Tielemans plays for Leicester City means that he doesn't get that much hype. The midfielder has been a regular for Belgium national team along with all the big boys and is consistently among the top midfielders in the Premier League. The Belgian might not be someone who will walk straight into the Madrid team but could be signed as someone to put pressure on others. His capability to play at an elite club is something that needs to be tested but if he is available for somewhere around £25million then it would be a good deal. At the age of 24 Tielemans still has a lot of potential to grow and when Real Madrid come calling then almost every player answers.
