FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers preview: Sweden take on Georgia to remain on top Group B as England face Albania

(Football news) With club football at a standstill, international teams will be looking to qualify for next year's biggest spectacle in Qatar. For Spain a victory against Greece is a must as Sweden currently lead Group B and occupy the automatic qualification spot. England will look to be the third side from Europe to qualify for the World Cup.

England face Albania at Wembley as Gareth Southgate’s men currently hold a three point lead at the top, while Alania are still in with a shot to finish in the top 2 as they currently occupy third place. England have seen Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Ward Prowse all pull out from the squad but these withdrawals have led to Emile Smith Rowe getting a deserved first national call up. A win will surely guarantee them a spot in next year's World Cup but if they lose the dimensions of the Group will completely change. For Albania their talisman Armando Broja has returned to full fitness and would continue his dream start for his national side.

Norway face Latvia in a crucial encounter in group G, they are currently two points behind leaders Netherlands and two points above Turkey who are third as the group lies in a fine balance. Norway will be without Erling Haaland for this all important clash as he's out with a long term injury, Martin Odegaard has to lead his side from the front in the absence of Haaland. A loss would mean that Turkey could leapfrog them into second but a win can also put pressure on Netherlands who play on Sunday.

Sweden take on Georgia in what could be a historical occasion as their highest ever top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his much awaited comeback to international football. The last time they met in the group the Scandinavian powerhouse marched out a 1-0 success against them. Sweden have their destiny in their own hands with Janne Anderson looking to qualify for their second World Cup on the bounce. For Sweden, they will be without regulars Ken Sema and Albin Ekdal through injury and suspension respectively. Anderson might just give the big guns rest and play the youngsters in the team.
