Emery says Foyth is happy at Villarreal amidst Barcelona interest

(Football news) Despite doing so much business in the summer, Xavi is still looking for a right back. Barcelona have played Ronald Araujo at right back in the first two games while Sergi Roberto has been used as a substitute. Sergino Dest is not in Xavi's plans even though the player wants to stay and fight for his place, Barcelona will be looking to sell him. Right back isn't Araujo's natural position and he will definitely be more comfortable at centre back. Barcelona also have Jules Kounde who can play right back but he is yet to be registered.

Villarreal's Juan Foyth is a player who has been on Barcelona's radar for a while. Speaking of the rumours, Unai Emery said “It seems that Barça are interested in Juan Foyth. He told me that he’s happy here – I don't rule out his departure, normally he would stay”. Foyth will definitely be a great fit for Barcelona with his skills on and off the ball. The Argentine came to Villarreal on loan from Spurs and later joined permanently. He has been really impressive under Emery and has been a key part of the side that won the Europa League in 2020 and reached the Champions League final in 2021.

The financial aspect is going to be difficult for Barcelona. They are yet to register Kounde while they stalled the Marcos Alonso deal despite agreeing personal terms with him. Failing to register Kounde has caused the Alonso deal to slow down. The worst part is that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has already removed him from his plans. Foyth will be a very good addition to Barcelona's squad but the deal at this moment in time doesn't look likely.
